NEXT OPEN BOTTLE DAY: VINS DU MIDI

From the northern Rhône to the Roussillon, we would like to invite you to sample a selection of white and red wines from the Midi, or southern France. These wines are made from grape varieties such as Grenache, Rousanne, Syrah and Mourvèdre.

What do these wines have in common? The grapes come from a warm climate, yet the wines are fresh and elegant.The low fertility of the soils of the vineyards ensures low vine vigor and thus smaller quantities of more concentrated grapes. Autumn is approaching, which makes us long for indoor dinners with family and friends. Autumn wines are wines with a structured and spicy profile that complement the flavours and dishes of the season, such as roasted game and stews. Think of full-bodied red wines to accompany game and stews, and light red wines or fuller white wines to accompany pumpkin, roasted vegetables and mushroom risotto. Finally, serve a Mucat de Rivesaltes with a cheese platter or homemade apple pie to round off the dinner.

Come and taste these autumn wines on Saturday 4 October at Wine&Roses. The wines will be open between 2 and 6 p.m.
